Appearance

Aims: to practise describing people’s appearance; to systematize usage of «I’ve got» structure; to encourage working in pairs and groups; to encourage learning English; to develop listening, speaking, reading skills and communicative competence.

Type of the lesson: systematization and generalization of the material.

Equipment: textbook «English 2» Alla Nesvit, flashcards «Appearance», songs «Hello», «Head and shoulders», netbook, speech patterns, pictures, mirror.

Procedure.

I. Introduction.

1) Greeting: singing a song «Hello».

2) Warming up: game with the ball «Chain»

3) Phonetic drill: «Mr. Tongue Adventure’s»

4) Informing of the topic and aims (meeting the alien).

II. Main part.

1) Vocabulary actualization: work with the flashcards — matching

2) A project work: Mask making.

3) PT min.: Song «Head and shoulders»

4) Speaking: a role game «Magic Mirror»

5) Listening: guessing game «Who is who?»

6) A group work «Clothes» (put the clothes on the alien)

6) Revision: game «An attentive eye»

III. Conclusion.

1) To draw your portrait and write down parts of the body.

2) To describe the alien.

3) Summing up.
